Following IPUG and Industry efforts to engage the FCA on the high and rising costs to acquire market data that is essential in providing financial services to clients, and the FCA’s failure to take any meaningful action to act on discriminative pricing and overly complex and opaque contractual usage terms, IPUG will be holding a SIG on Thursday 23rd January at 1pm (UK time) to regroup on this topic in 2025.
An area of opportunity exists in the guidance provided by the FCA in their Policy Statement on Payment Optionality for Investment Research where they advocate benchmarking prices paid for research services.
In this SIG we will discuss our approach and steps forward and will be looking for feedback and comment from members on our path forward in 2025. Any success stories in the use of benchmarking services or any new examples of unreasonable cost increases from vendors will be welcome.”
The Information Providers User Group (IPUG) is a non-profit organisation, established in 1989 to represent the current and future interests of it’s member firms. It is now the principal organisation in the UK representing users of Market Data services on a technical, administrative and strategic level.
